Tummy Tuck.
Do you have a protuberant abdomen? You've tried to diet and exercise - and you've lost weight... but you still have a problem area around your stomach that just won't go away. Or, maybe you were successful - and you've lost all the fat - but, you still have loose skin hanging over. In either case, a tummy tuck may be an option.
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a surgery that is designed to contour the abdomen by tightening the underlying muscles, removing excess fat and loose skin. This is not a procedure designed to help you lose weight - it's designed to contour your body. The best candidate is a man or woman who has reached the end of their weight-loss program.
A modified tummy tuck consists of liposuction of the abdomen and removal of loose skin below the navel. If there is marked loose skin above and below the navel with small amounts of cellulite deposits then a regular abdominoplasty with repositioning of the navel is done. This may require repair of the muscle wall of the abdomen as well.
If the abdomen contains only cellulite deposits without loose or relaxed skin then the only procedure required is liposuction.
A tummy tuck is often performed in combination with other body contouring procedures such as liposuction, breast augmentation surgery or breast reduction surgery.
